Two huge cultural and artistic lantern festivals are lighting up Gulliver’s resorts in Cheshire and Buckinghamshire this winter.
Building on the success of Land of Lights in Milton Keynes last year, Gulliver’s Theme Park Resorts is currently hosting the incredible mile-long light and lantern show at both Gulliver’s World in Warrington and Gulliver’s Dinosaur and Farm Park, which is adjacent to Gulliver’s Land, in Milton Keynes.
Gulliver’s, a family-business which has four parks across the UK, has once again teamed up with award-winning Lantern Festival and Lamp Manufacturer, Zigong Lantern Group, to put on the spectacular show.
Guests at Milton Keynes are this time experiencing the theme of classic children’s literature brought to life with a wide variety of installations from popular and much-loved characters and scenes such as Alice in Wonderland, Gulliver’s Travels, the much-loved classic, Wind in the Willows and more.
Whilst at Warrington, visitors are enjoying a visual voyage exploring 12 vivid dreamworlds of imagination and illumination featuring bespoke, lanterns covering nature, monuments and seasonal celebrations.
The impressive displays are a mile long and each include more than 7,000 individual lanterns and hundreds of thousands LED lights.
Julie Dalton, managing director of Gulliver’s Theme Park Resorts, said: “We’re thrilled to have Land of Lights back this winter.
“Last year’s festival in Milton Keynes proved to be really popular, enchanting visitors of all ages and with people coming from far and wide, so we took the decision to expand this time round making it both bigger and better at Milton Keynes but also bringing it to a new audience in Warrington.
“We have found the perfect partner in the Zigong Lantern Group to help deliver this fantastic attraction to our resorts which not only provides an exciting winter attraction for our guests but also ensures a real economic boost to both areas with more seasonal jobs available at Gulliver’s and further opportunities for suppliers in each locality.
“Here at Gulliver’s, we’re always looking at new ways we can excite our customers and bring new visitors to our parks and Land of Lights is a great opportunity for us to do this.”
Over 100 people are involved in the production process at the specialist lantern company which takes three months to finish as each handcrafted lantern is comprised of multiple skill sets to complete it.
Justin Corsa, CEO of Zigong Lantern Group, said: “Together, Zigong Lantern Group and Gulliver’s have formed a powerful group, establishing a pathway to expand our offering and produce a really exciting and innovative attraction. This year, we have gone even further, developing a bigger and better exhibition for 2023, and building the Land of Lights brand across the UK. Our craftsmanship is second to none and Land of Lights focusses on quality, experience, and creativity that is fun and awe inspiring for everyone of all ages and background.’’
Land of Lights runs until 25 February 2024 at both resorts.
